Future Economy of York Working Group

Ambitious climate action is still too often felt to be costly, unnecessary, or a nice-to-have by our city’s organisations, and sustainable products and green jobs are still not as widely available as they need to be with mere years to go until we need to be running a net zero economy.

Our working group exists to make the case for, champion and accelerate our movement towards a sustainable, nature-friendly, less exploitative and more open economy—the future economy we need to achieve a balanced relationship with our world.

We meet regularly to learn from frontrunners, critique dawdlers and work up interventions that move us further in the right direction.

We’re always open to new members and partners. We’d love to hear from organisations who are making progress, researchers and campaigners with solutions to our shared problems, interested individuals willing to help out, and representatives of trade unions and similar bodies who want to build a fairer, sustainable society.

Please feel free to reach out to our chair, Sam Perry, at sperry@tuc.org.uk.
